About Bobbie Burks, PhD

Bobbie BurksBobbie, the adopted child of a career Marine and his Puerto Rican-born wife, grew up on military bases, fostering a deep appreciation for diverse cultures. Her father’s Vietnam War service and military family culture shaped her, leading her to work with similar groups. Initially trained in veterinary technology due to her love for animals, Bobbie transitioned into media, spending nearly 20 years as a radio personality in East Texas and running her own marketing firm. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue counseling, earning degrees from Tyler Junior College, the University of Texas at Tyler, and a PhD in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior from Capella University. Bobbie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and LPC Supervisor, specializing in domestic violence, sexual abuse, and crisis intervention. After 13 years in group practice, she founded the 4:13 Center for Change in 2013. An avid spin cyclist and health advocate, Bobbie credits her success to her faith in Jesus Christ. She is a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor (BCPCC) and works with individuals, couples, and families, offering both faith-based and secular counseling.
